German physicist Georg Simon Ohm (1789-1854) discovered the fundamental law of electrical circuits in 1826 and also formulated the laws of current branchings. In 1843 he defined acoustic sound as a purely sinusoidal oscillation. The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
