George Baehr (1666–1738) was a famous architect of the Baroque period. His masterpiece, the Frauenkirche in Dresden {see planet (3053)} (1726–1734), is a centrally planned monumental Protestant church provided with a massive stone dome. This city landmark was destroyed in 1945 and is now being rebuilt. (M 45749) _ _.
