Named for Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746–1827), Swiss educator of worldwide influence. Inspired by the ideas of J.-J. Rousseau {see planet  (2950)}, he worked unremittingly for better education and schooling of the children of the poor. Some of his highly unselfish actions failed at the time, but in the long term his way of thinking succeeded. Even today people use his name as a hallmark for true altruism. (M 21129) _ _.
