Named for the principal town in the Belgian province of the same name, a place where the discoverer studied. Namur is at the confluence of the Meuse and the Sambre {see planets  (3016) and  (4016)} rivers, and it was there that Julius Caesar battled Belgian tribes in 59 and 57 B.C. (M 15573) _ _.
