Named in honor of Robert Burnham Jr. {1931–1993}, past staff member of the Lowell Observatory during the Lowell Proper Motion Survey, discoverer or co-discoverer of six comets, and author of the Celestial Handbook, a 2,000-page ‘wunderwerk’ of the universe beyond the solar system.
