Named in honor of André Brahic, astronomer at the Observatoire de Paris, Meudon, and at the Université de Paris. His studies of the dynamics of planetary rings have provided insight into how collisional interactions among particles can control the large-scale behavior of a swarm. He was leader of the team that discovered the apparent “ring arcs” of Neptune and has performed several other ring occultation experiments. Brahic is also a member of the imaging team for the Voyager spacecraft. Through popular articles, public talks and books, he has helped convey the excitement of planetary science to the public in both his native France and abroad. (M 12804) _ _.
