Named for the Italian city, founded in the fourth century B.C., and situated at the foot of the Alps. Verona knew moments of splendor during the ancient Roman Epoca and still conserves the Arena, as well as thirteenth-century masterpieces from the reign of the Scaligeri family. Shakespeare’s {see planet  (2985)} Romeo and Juliet was sited in Verona, which is also the city in which the Cavriana observers, Luciano Lai, Ivano Rocchetti and Giordano Vesentini, were born and raised.
