Named in memory of Arthur Grumiaux (1921–1986), Belgian violinist who studied at the conservatories of Charleroi and Brussels. After winning the Vieuxtemps Prize in 1939 he went to Paris to study with Georges Enesco. Of particular brilliance are his recordings of the Mozart and Beethoven sonatas with Clara Haskil at the piano and of Bach’s sonatas and partitas for unaccompanied violin. {The great composers mentioned are all on the minor planet sky — see planets
