Named in honor of Alessandro Morbidelli (1966– ). From Cuneo, in extreme western Italy, he joined the solar system dynamics group in Nice (50 km to the south) as an H. Poincaré {see planet
(2021)} postdoctoral fellow and became a permanent staff member in 1993. Morbidelli’s main interests are the theory of dynamical systems and resonances in the solar system. For his pioneering work on the overlapping of mean-motion and secular resonances, Morbidelli was awarded the bronze medal of the CNRS in 1995. (M 27460) _ _.
