Named for the German village in the Erzgebirge mountains, 20 km south of the Saxon town of Chemnitz. It is noted for its crocuses, blooming over an area of seven hectares. The Volkssternwarte Drebach, originally established as the school observatory in 1969, is widely known, especially after the completion of a planetarium and, in 1986, of a new main building. This minor planet was numbered as a result of observations made at Drebach in April–May 1995. (M 25979) _ _.
