At the Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik, Vadim Burwitz (b. 1965) studies comets, planets, stars, white dwarfs, neutron stars and active galactic nuclei. He is also involved in the calibration of experiments on board x-ray satellites and has set up optical monitoring programs for discovering novae in M31.
