Named in honor of Wolf D. Beiglböck (b. 1939), German mathematician and professor at the University of Heidelberg. His main research as a mathematical physicist ranges from the theory of Lie groups and harmonic analysis to a discussion of the equations of motion of extended bodies in the framework of Einstein's gravitation theory. For 30 years, Beiglböck has served as scientific advisor to Springer-Verlag in Heidelberg. He is the founder and co-editor of the well-known series “Lecture Notes in Physics” and “Texts and Monographs in Physics”. His persistent support made it possible to realize the publication of the
