Named in honor of Henk Nieuwenhuis (1938– ), curator of the Eise Eisinga {see planet  (5530)} Planetarium in Franeker, The Netherlands. Since the 1960s he has been an enthusiastic organizer of exhibitions, meetings and lectures for amateur astronomers and the general public.
