Akira M. Sinzi (b. 1922) directed the astronomical division of the Hydrographic Department of Japan and was president of IAU Commission 4 during 1979-1982. Although his death has not been confirmed, he disappeared while mountain-climbing alone in the Kanto area in 1995. The name was suggested by A. Sengoku.
