Named in honor of Andrea Boattini (1969– ). After developing a growing interest in minor planets, he graduated in 1996 from the University of Bologna with a thesis on near-earth objects. He is involved in various projects related to NEO follow-up and search programs, with special interest in the NEO class known as Atens {see planet
(2062)}. He currently works at the Istituto di Astrofisica Spaziale of the National Research Council in Rome. The discoverers have started their astrometric activity on minor planets together with him. (M 33793) _ _.
