Manosque, a small city in southern France (Provence), not far from the Durance river, has become well known through the writings of Jean Giono {see planet (6519)}, who was born there. It still has many reminders of medieval times, including La porte Soubeyran, and is only 20 km away from the Observatory of Haute Provence {see planet (7755)}. (M 47165) _ _.
