Rogier van der Weyden (Rogier de la Pasture, 1399–1464) was a Flemish painter who dominated painting in France, Germany and Spain. A pupil of Robert Campin, he was also influenced by Jan van Eyck {see planet  (9561)}. Following the spirit of his epoch, he painted his famous Descent from the Cross. (M 47165) _ _.
