Frederick Gowland Hopkins (1861–1947) received the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for his discovery of the growth-stimulating vitamins. He is also widely acknowledged as one of the founders of modern biochemistry. Gowland Hopkins shared the 1929 Nobel Prize with Christiaan Eijkman {see planet  (9676)}. (M 41569) _ _.
