Pier Luigi Bernacca (1940-2013), associate professor of Astronomy, was Director for several years of the PhD School of Space Sciences and Technologies at the University of Padova. He studied Be stars with ground and space telescopes, and made great contributions to the ESA Hipparcos satellite.
