Sculptor and graphic artist Gerhard Marcks (1889–1981) was master of the potter’s shop in Dornburg {see planet  (3802)}, a teacher at the Bauhaus in Weimar {see, respectively, planets  (8502) and  (3539)} and until 1933 director of the Arts and Crafts School in Halle-Giebichenstein. Until 1945 his representations of animals, figurines, drawings and woodcuts were regarded as degenerate. (M 36950) _ _.
