Guy Soulié (b. 1920) made photometric observations of the zodiacal light, measured positions of comets, planets and their satellites and wrote astrometric reduction programs. A member of the Hipparcos Input Catalog team, he also discovered double stars and minor planets. The name was suggested by J. Montanné.
