Nawal El Saadawi (1931) is a medical doctor, graduated from the University of Cairo, and writer. From 1979 to 1980 she was the advisor of the United Nations program for Women in Africa and the Middle East. She has lectured at Harvard, Sorbonne and Berkeley universities.
