Named in honor of Karl August Thernöe, formerly an astronomer at the Copenhagen Observatory who worked in celestial mechanics. He has for some time been well known as a popularizer of astronomy in Denmark and from 1950 to 1964 was director of the IAU Central Telegram Bureau. (M 3930) _ _.
