Named for a son of the sage Kasyapa and Vinata {see planet (2347)} in the mythology of India. Vinata laid two eggs, and after a thousand years one hatched into Garuda. He symbolizes aspiration to spiritual truth on the higher planes, and feels hatred toward the serpents who are guardians of spiritual truth on the material and terrestrial planes. He was the mount chosen by Vishnu, protector and conservator of the universe. (M 21605) _ _.
