Named in honor of Kiyosi Yabuuti, a member of the Japan Academy, former professor of the Astronomical Institute and former director of the Research Institute for Humanistic Studies, Kyoto University. A pioneer in the study of sinology, he has published various books on Chinese ancient astronomy and technology. The minor planet is named on the occasion of the international conference on the history of science in China (Kyoto, 1987), which was held in his honor. (M 12803) _ _.
