Stefan Mazurkiewicz (1888–1945) was a professor at the University of Warsaw and a founder of the contemporary Polish mathematics school. He worked mainly in probability theory and topology, where he solved some important problems that clarified the topological structure of the Euclidian plane. (M 45342) _ _.
