August Ferdinand Möbius (1790–1868) was a professor of astronomy at Leipzig. He studied occultations of stars by the planets, but most of his work was in geometry, including the invention of the barycentric calculus. He is also remembered for his discovery of the Möbius strip, a one-sided surface. (M 44187) _ _.
