Named in honor of Luboš Perek, well known for his work on galactic dynamics and planetary nebulae. He worked at the Purkyne University in Brno and later at the Astronomical Institute of the Czechoslovak Institute of Sciences in Prague, serving as director from 1968 to 1975. Subsequently he has been chief of the space department in the secretariat of the United Nations. He was general secretary of the IAU from 1967 to 1970 and has also served as president of the International Astronautical Federation. (M 9478) _ _.
