Named in honor of Gareth (Graff) Vaughan Williams {1965– }, of Leighton Buzzard, England, where he has during the past three years identified several low-numbered minor planets among objects that had been given provisional designations. During 1990 January–April he has been at the Minor Planet Center, where he continued this work with ingenuity and success, has made excellent progress on the daunting task of correcting the MPC files of old observations of low-numbered minor planets, and has generally been improving the efficiency of the whole MPC operation.
