Walt Cooney (b. 1962), of Sonoita Research Observatory, Arizona, and Blackberry Observatory, Louisiana, is a long-time amateur astronomer active in research on minor planets, of which he has discovered more than 20. Furthermore, his photometric work has helped confirmed the binary nature of several objects.
