Named in honor of Roger W. Martin, a graduate of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, San Diego. He has creatively contributed to asteroid science by his analysis of the spectra of (2201) Oljato and objects near the 3:1 Kirkwood gap, exhibiting both a wide range of technical expertise and an infectiously high-spirited nature. Incidentia is named after the school of music developed by Martin, who is also a talented musician. The name is quite the antithesis of the effects of Martin’s efforts in whatever he undertakes.
