Named in memory of Mika Waltari (1908–1979), Finnish writer, from 1957 a member of the Academy of Finland. He was best known internationally for his extensive historical novel Sinuhe, egyptiläinen (’sinuhe, Egyptian’), which was translated into several languages and also filmed {see also planet  (4512)}.
