Named in memory of Sigeru Kaho (1909–1981), an earnest researcher of variable stars at the Tokyo Observatory. His discovery of comet 1936 III (Kaho-Kozik-Lis) was the first cometary discovery in Japan in modern times. The Kaho prize, established after his death, has been awarded annually to an active amateur astronomer in Japan. (M 19336) _ _.
