In 1897, German Ferdinand Braun (1850–1918) introduced a cathode-ray tube with a fluorescent screen (“Braun tube”), the forerunner of the television tube. In 1909, he shared with Marconi {see planet  (1332)} the Nobel Prize in physics for the development of wireless telegraphy. (M 47170) _ _.
