Named in honor of the great Austrian composer, conductor and opera-director Gustav Mahler (1860– 1911). Mahler’s creative endeavor was concentrated mainly to ten daring and unusual symphonies, supplemented by some lieder-groups, e.g. the four-part cycle “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” and the cycle “Kindertotenlieder”.
