Named in honor of Mamoru Mohri (1948– ), a professor in the department of technology at Hokkaido University and the first payload specialist of the Japanese National Space Development Agency to travel into space. After lifting off in the space shuttle Endeavor on 1992 Sept. 12 he successfully performed 34 experiments (“Fuwatto’ 92”) and lectured from space to Japanese school children. (M 21131) _ _.
