Askalaphus, a son of the god Ares, became one of the Argonauts, and also participated in the Trojan War. With his brother, Ialmenos, he drew up thirty ships in line of battle. Askalaphus was killed when Deiphobus {see planet  (1867)} ran him through the shoulder with his heavy spear. (M 25443) _ _.
