Named for a city in the northern part of Aichi Prefecture. Rich in natural beauty and featuring the Hida-Kiso River National Park, Inyuama is also known for its traditional events, such as the Nihon-Rhine Rapid Ride and Inuyama cormorant fishing. It also boasts some historically valuable architecture, including Japan's oldest donjon (in the Inuyama Castle) and the Tea Arbor JO-AN. Both are national treasures. Name proposed by the discoverers following a suggestion by their teacher, T. Yamada.
