Named very probably after Guinevere, wife of King Arthur {see planet  (2597)}. In the novel Le morte d’Arthur {orig.: Le Morte Darthur} (1469) by Thomas Malory her adulterous love, which Arthur is reluctant to recognize, causes Lancelot’s {see planet  (2041)} estrangement from Arthur and leads indirectly to Arthur’s death and the destruction of the fellowship of the Round Table. (G. Cibis; LDS) _ _.
