Named in memory of the sculptor Toru Komuro (1899–1953), on the hundredth anniversary of his birth. Komuro’s work was first accepted for the Teiten (Imperial Art Exhibition, now known as Nitten) in 1924. His most important work is the equestrian statue of Datemasamune {see planet  (6859)}, placed in the ruins of the castle of Sendai {see planet  (3133)} as a symbol of the city. (M 34623) _ _.
