Named in honor of Bertil A. Lindblad (b. 1921) of the Lund Observatory, in recognition of his lifetime work on meteor orbits; his long-term effort in establishing a database for all meteor orbits, now generally used by all meteor workers; his stewardship of IAU Commission 22, which he served as president in the early 1970s; and, in particular, his contribution to starting the very successful “Asteroids, Comets, Meteors” series of conferences. Name suggested and citation written by I. P. Williams.
