According to myth, the city of Delphi was at the centre of the world. Delphi lies on the south-west slopes of the Parnassos mountain, in the valley of the river Phokis, and is the most renowned archaeological site in Greece. Delphi was renowned for its oracle, the priestess Pythia, who relayed the answers of the god Apollo to questions.
