Hugo von Hofmannsthal (1874–1929) began writing poems at the age of 16. His lyrical and dramatic work reflects Austrian impressionism and symbolism. Together with Richard Strauss {see planet (5039)} and Max Reinhardt, he founded the Salzburger Festspiele. His best-known play is Jedermann. (M 34345; M 34673) _ _.
