Suminao Murakami (b. 1935), the son and grandson of astronomers, is a representative of the Laboratory of Urban Safety Planning in Tokyo and a former professor at the Yokohama National and other Universities. He established the new field of urban scale countermeasures design against disaster and environmental risk.
