David A. Kring (1961– ) of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory is a prolific geologist and meteoriticist who has studied the mineralogy of meteorites and the structure of terrestrial impact craters, particularly the Chicxulub crater, playing an important role in determining its origin and relationship to the K-T extinction event.
