Philip de Montmorency, Count of Hoorne (1524-1568), was stadtholder of Guelders and an admiral of Flanders. Together with William of Orange and the Count of Egmont, he resisted the introduction of the Spanish Inquisition in the Netherlands. He and Egmont were condemned to death and beheaded in Brussels.
