Ányos Jedlik (1800-1895) was a Hungarian inventor, engineer, physicist and Benedictine priest. He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is considered the unsung father of the dynamo and electric motor. This minor planet was discovered on the 202nd anniversary of his birth.
