Toyohiko Yano (b. 1952) is a professor at the Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors, Tokyo Institute of Technology. His major work is materials science, particularly in the field of ceramics, and he is also a skillful electron microscopist. In their youth, he and the discoverer climbed mountains together.
