Dimitrij Evgen'evich Shchegolev (1928-1988) was an astronomer at the Pulkovo Observatory known for his work on satellite geodesy and stellar spectrophotometry. He was chief of the Experimental Astronomy Department and worked at Pulkovo for 35 years. The name was suggested by the Pulkovo Observatory.
