David Brewster (1781-1868) was a Scottish scientist, a populariser of science and a founder of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. Described as the father of modern experimental optics, Brewster invented or improved polarimeters, stereo cameras, the stereoscope, the kaleidoscope, and several other instruments.
